The Old City of Jerusalem and Its Inhabitants
Its walls are not the most impressive ones I’ve seen. Its dwelling is not particularly imposing. Its market is not that picturesque or striking. Its buildings are not remarkable architecture examples. Notable urine smell is not a charm. It wakes up pretty late and goes to sleep quite early. Nothing extraordinary. In a couple of hours tourists take their standard pictures and fly back.
Religion is on surface:
Unlike a tourist I have a luxury to get there more or less at wish. And I cater to this strange desire almost every weekend for a simple reason: people of the Old City. The life they live there is concealed from strangers. It is excitingly slow but at the same time it is tensely and subconsciously moving.
